A New York City-based designer and manufacturer of sustainable, often carbon-negative products, for the workplace.
The Humanscale Design Studio, based in New York City, is a design and manufacturing company focused on creating sustainably-made, ergonomic products for the workplace. They offer products such as office chairs, cable management tools, and sit/stand solutions that help aid in office functionality. Their newest project, The Path Chair, is working to give back more than it takes. Each chair upcycles roughly ten pounds of ocean plastic. The hope is for this new endeavor to serve as a stepping stone for more upcycled and sustainable projects in the future.
Simplicity, longevity, and sustainability are at the core of all their designs. When thinking through the design and manufacturing of each product, Humanscale tries to consider the materials and resources used to create an overall positive impact. Their simple solutions aim to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing—while consuming as little of the Earth’s limited resources as possible. Nearly every Humanscale product can contribute to the achievement of LEED-CI, -NC, and -EB credits. In addition to manufacturing ergonomic work tools, Humanscale’s team of certified ergonomists is available to help organizations further improve worker comfort, reduce injuries, and boost productivity through ergonomic assessments, training, and program development.
