Use a smartstrip power strip to reduce home energy use

Share good news. Ignite change.

If you’re like most of us, you have at least a few power strips in your home with five or six appliances plugged in at all times. What we often don’t realize is that many of these appliances have “phantom loads.” They use up energy even when we’re aren’t using them. The worst offenders are often TVs, video game systems, cable boxes, and phones that keeping charging even when they are full.

Smartstrip power strips help fix that. Often coming with a smartphone app, you can turn off individual outlets remotely when you aren’t using them. Or you can simply schedule them to turn off at night so you aren’t using energy on appliances while you sleep.

Smartstrips not only save energy (and therefore reduce greenhouse gas emissions), but also save you money on your energy bill. In fact, smartstrips often pay for themselves within a year.

One example is the Kasa Smart Wi-fi Power Strip. Learn more at the link below.
