Walmart will be investing nearly $1 billion over the next five years to help roughly 1.5 million part-time and full-time Walmart and Sam’s Club associates in the U.S. earn college degrees or learn trade skills.
Walmart U.S. will source 100% of the fresh produce and floral items it sells in its in-store produce department from suppliers that adopt integrated pest management practices, as verified by a third party, by 2025.
Batesville School District includes six schools that serve about 3,200 students. Adopting the new initiative allowed the schools to transform their $250,000 annual deficit to a $1.8 million annual surplus. As a result, teachers’ salaries have increased by $2000 to $3000.
To reach zero emissions without carbon offsets, Walmart says it will power its facilities with 100 percent renewable energy by 2035 while introducing zero-emission vehicles for all of its fleet, including long haul trucks by 2040.
Arkansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wyoming, Maryland, and Massachusetts have enough wind energy currently under construction that it will more than double their capacity upon completion.
