Finland’s woman-led center-left government plans to give new fathers the same amount of paid time off work as new mothers, nearly doubling paternity leave, it announced on Wednesday.
The legislation would give workers in the state 100% of their wages when on family leave.
Dove started a Paternity Leave Fund that is trying to raise over $1 million for dads across America over the next two years. The fund will provide fathers who do not have access to paternity leave with $5,000 grants.
India passed a law to more than double its paid maternity leave, adding 14 weeks to the 12 already guaranteed by the government, reports the BBC.
The new legislation will grant all full- and part-time workers in the city eight weeks of leave at up to 90% of their full weekly wages for birth, adoption or fostering.
