The current cheapest solar farm is owned by the UAE’s other major city, Dubai, which set the cost record in 2015 at 5.98¢/kWh and then broke it again in 2016 at 2.99¢/kWh. Abu Dhabi’s project crushes those marks at 1.35¢/kWh.
The total female workforce in the UAE in 2015 was 882,000 compared to just 10,000 in 1975.
It is expected to process up to two million tons of solid waste every year this is about 60 percent of the waste produced in the city.
The project is considered the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) project in the world.
“The SDGs are a top national priority for the UAE, aligned with Vision 2021, our other development frameworks, and our new foreign assistance policy,”
Earlier this year, the Dubai government approved the largest concentrated solar project in history. The array is slated to produce 1,000 megawatts of energy by 2020 and possibly 5,000 megawatts by 2030.
