Use to understand and acknowledge the tribal land you occupy

The vast majority of us in the Americas live on lands that were stolen from Indigenous tribes and remain unceded to this day. For centuries, we have failed to fully acknowledge and rectify this history and it's incredibly damaging consequences for Indigenous peoples today. Understanding and acknowledging this history and present reality is one step in healing the open wounds of the past and building a brighter future.

The website offers an easy, intuitive platform to understand which Indigenous territories you live on. Once you've done so, you can then begin acknowledging this in your web signatures, public speaking opportunities, etc. and in doing so start a conversation.

Native Land Digital strives to create and foster conversations about the history of colonialism, Indigenous ways of knowing, and settler-Indigenous relations, through educational resources such as our map and Territory Acknowledgement Guide. We strive to go beyond old ways of talking about Indigenous people and to develop a platform where Indigenous communities can represent themselves and their histories on their own terms. In doing so, Native Land Digital creates spaces where non-Indigenous people can be invited and challenged to learn more about the lands they inhabit, the history of those lands, and how to actively be part of a better future going forward together.
